I wonder if collecting cars can be called a sport. Well any way, we are coming up to the grand daddy of Long Beach motor sports, yes, you guessed it. I’m talking about the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. I should have started building this site a little earlier. I hate to say it, but I’m too late to get a press pass to this event. Oh well, I will still cover it as an outsider.

I can remember working at the grand prix when I was in school. That was a long time ago. I wonder if that qualifies me as part of long beach grand prix history. I also covered the grand prix when I had a local cable television program in Long Beach. That was when there were real local cable TV station. Now it seems all the cable stations are owned by a few big players. In my book that makes local not so local.

Getting back to the Long Beach Grand Prix, it’s a weeklong plus event of excitement and speed. The grand prix starts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday the 9th with round 1 of the formula drift racing championship season and ends Sunday April 19th at 5:30 p.m. when the Lifestyle Expo closes. There will be over a week of fun in Long Beach. From reading the Long Beach gp website it looks like this will be a week of fast cars, hot women, and cold beer. That’s enough to stir the adolescent in all of us.
